What is a Union?

A voice. A collective voice. A seat at the table and a say in the decisions being made that affect us and our patients.

Being part of a union, an organization of you and coworkers, means that you all together have a real say in the issues you care about at work. From patient safety and staffing ratios to wages and working conditions, having a union means having the ability to negotiate.

"Forming a union has been one of the best things that we could have done for our hospital. Now, nurses and professionals have a say in the decisions that affect us and our patients. We have real power when we work together."

We use our collective strength to advocate for things like safe staffing, universal access to healthcare, and prevention of harassment and violence against healthcare workers. Our advocacy was instrumental in passing Act 102, Pennsylvania's ban on mandatory overtime for healthcare workers.
